Well its all happening with two new videos for the album. Stefan and I have been putting them together and it has been hard work and yet fun too. He is great to work with, as we are on the same page most of the time and it really is a great creative partnership. we have worked on a surrealist comic before and laughed our heads off the entire time. this time the learning curve has been a bit steeper. there has been alot of trail and error with different programs and equipment, plus our budget was the same as the cost of a bag of peanuts…. go crazy!
one of the videos is for Seasonal Pass, and is like a memory of the seasons changing. there is some nice footage of some of the crew Matto, Chien, Hugh, Stefan and Myself chilling at the beach. we got some nice photos and layed them up with footage to create a dreamy feel. then we went out and i sang the song a few times infront of this wierd mural infront of a vetinary clinic. the mural has a cute yellow bird, strange dogs and even a cat with an eye patch! we spiced that footage with some other street footage and a huge solo mash-up. we have used a bit of comedy in the clip too… just as i am about to be a guitar hero i throw my coat off and start ripping the solo in the rain…ha ha!
the second video that we are working on is for No Arms, a more ambitious piece, as we have gone almost full blue screen. it was all ‘do it yourself’ style and we started off using blue shower curtains. the best thing about this one is it looks great and the message of te song comes through strongly. just as Australia is about to boost it’s military spend through the fricken roof….i want to get this to as many people as possible! i got Paula (Stefan’s wife) who is pregnant to act in the video with me. i think the symbolism of a pregnant woman and the destructive mess of war is very powerful. hopefully it will have an impact on those who see it and maybe in some way make the world a better place….. who knows? i just know war and more arms is not the answer.
so…. the vids will be online really soon and i will be showing them at my launch, which i am in the process of booking.
